NycoCard READER II
The NycoCard READER II is a small battery powered instrument, designed to measure all NycoCard products.
The NycoCard System comprises four selected PoC tests: CRP, HbA1c, D-Dimer and U-Albumin. They can all be analysed on the same instrument - the NycoCard Reader II.
The Reader consists of two units: the instrument box, which is the operational and calculating unit, and the Reader pen, which detects the signal.
Patented measurement principle

Each NycoCard test comprises a unique Test Device where the test is performed.
The device has a central well for sample and reagent application, which is shaped to fit the Reader pen. When the pen is placed over the sample and the pen sleeve is pushed down, the measurement starts automatically and the test result appears on the display.
NycoCard HbA1c test
The NycoCard HbA1c test is a 3 minute Point of Care test for the measurement of glycated hemoglobin.
NycoCard HbA1c provides an accurate and reliable method to monitor metabolic control in people with diabetes.
Test specific information

- Assay time: 3 minutes
- Sample material: Capillary blood or anticoagulated venous blood (EDTA, citrate or heparin)
- Measuring range: 4 - 15% HbA1c
- Reports DCCT aligned values
- NGSP-certified method
- Boronate affinity test principle
- No interference from Hb variants like HbC, HbE, HbF, HbJ and HbS
- No interference from carbamylated Hb
- Kit size: 24 tests
Clinical use of NycoCard HbA1c
- Improved diabetes management
- Better metabolic control
- Reduction in late complications
- Fewer hospital admissions
- Healthcare cost savings
NycoCard D-Dimer test
The NycoCard D-Dimer test is a rapid 3-minute test for the activation status of the fibrinolysis system. It can also be used for the exclusion of thromboembolic disease.
Test specific information
- Sample volume: 50 µL
- Assay time: 3 minutes
- Sample material: Plasma
- Measuring range: 0.1 - 20 mg/L
- Kit size: 6 and 24 tests
- Positiv control included in the kit
The NycoCard D-Dimer test is not FDA approved and for research use only in the US.
Clinical use of NycoCard D-Dimer
- Exclusion of thrombotic disorders such as Deep Venous Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
- Diagnosis of DIC (Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation)
- Early detection of fibrinolytic processes
- Monitoring the course of thrombolysis and response to thrombolytic treatment
NycoCard CRP test
The NycoCard CRP test is a 2-minute Point of Care test to indicate bacterial or viral cause of infection.
NycoCard CRP measures C-reactive protein (CRP), an acute phase protein that increases rapidly after onset of infection.
Test specific information
- Sample volume: 5 µL
- Assay time: 2 minutes
- Sample material: Whole blood, serum or plasma
- Measuring range: 8 - 200 mg/L for whole blood samples and 5 - 120 mg/L for serum and plasma samples

- NycoCard CRP Control: Positive control provided with the kit
Clinical use of NycoCard CRP
- Reduces unnecessary use of antibiotics
- More rapid induction of treatment
- Fewer hospital admissions
- Healthcare cost savings
NycoCard U-Albumin test
The NycoCard U-Albumin test is a 3-minute Point of Care test for the measurement of albumin in urine. It is an important indicator of diabetes related complications.
Test specific information
- Measuring range: 5 - 200 mg/L
- Assay time: 3 minutes
- Measuring interval: 1 mg/L
- Monoclonal antibodies to human albumin are used. No known interference from human urine components
- Sample material: Human urine. Fresh, stored refrigerated for 14 days, or frozen
- Kit size: 24 tests
- NycoCard U-Albumin Control: 2 levels, positive and negative
Clinical use of NycoCard U-Albumin
- First clinical sign of incipient diabetic nephropathy
- Strong predictor of other diabetes-related complications
- Strong predictor of cardiovascular disease in Type 1 diabetes
- Risk factor in essential hypertension
- Early marker of complications in diabetic pregnancy
